new life for an old floor

A huge sigh of relief came the day the hardwood floors were uncovered and found to be in near perfect condition. The stain was a bit dark for the small size of the rooms so we decided to have them refinished with a clear stain to show off the 100 year old fir. This was also the first project we hired out and were finally able to come 'home' to change we didn't do ourselves. We used WoodWright Floors (no website, 208.263.4525) who did a great job and at $3 a square foot, plus some extra for repairs, it even ended up being cheaper than carpet too.

The hardwood as we found it with some dings and glue in random places.

The only flooring in the house we didn't touch was the laminate wood-look flooring in the kitchen and dining room. The previous owner had recently installed it and we weren't quite ready to find out what is underneath. It's still on my wish list to remove it.
