what is this room even for?

The first room to reach move-in readiness was the kitchen since no flooring work was done. Luckily the kitchen has great bones, tons of cabinets and a decent layout. Once the bright orange walls, teal trim and gold hardware was replaced it was a completely new room.

We painted the kitchen with Behr 'Garden Wall' and 'Decorator White' trim which was matched throughout the house. The blank cabinet filler piece was turned into a chalkboard with a few coats of magnetic then chalkboard paint. The outlet covers were replaced with stainless steel ones to match the future appliances.


In the opposite corner is the door to the back hallway/mudroom and back door. Might I add that is a teal ceiling.


After a lot of paint, new faucet fixture and roman shade. At this point the only remaining plans are to replace the mis-matched appliances and faux butcher block counter top (and of course my dream wish list item- tear out the faux wood flooring).


The new hardware made a huge difference to reduce the oranginess of the cabinets. With gold hardware and orange walls we thought we'd have to eventually replace or at least paint all the cabinets. I'd like to say it was a cheap upgrade but with as many as we had to buy it did add up. It was definitely worth it though as it 'saved' our cabinets.
