on the fence

Not much to be said about the 'guest house' except that it is awesome. The previous owner wanted to build a tree house for his kids but without a tree suitable for the job, built a playhouse on top of the fence instead. It's located in the rear of the lot; the photos of the back of the house from the previous posting are taken from its balcony. It has skylights, a functioning window and even had electricity until the uninsulated wiring buried a mere 2" underground the entire length of the yard was almost severed with a shovel (it was at that point we realized it was not the safest thing and cut it off).  

We painted it to match the house but the best 'after' photo I have is from the following winter of Bryce heading up to shovel, and then jump off of, the balcony.








Thanks to his experience as a house painter in college, Bryce is really good at estimating the amount of paint needed for various projects. Funny story though, we were about to run out of the green paint after finishing the house but still had the playhouse to do. In lieu of another $30 trip to Home Depot, we decided to paint just the two sides facing our yard first. We got them done without a drop to spare and the other two sides facing the neighbor and alley are bright blue to this day.
