Even though it's really just a hallway, I call this tiny area of the house the mudroom because that's how we use it. The teal trim was painted in the early pre-moved in days and although the idea was we'd paint the walls as well, suddenly the grey-purple color wasn't so offensive and the project was skipped for the time being in lieu of more pressing items. While we had our supplies out to finish the dining room however, we decided to bite the bullet and finish it up.

Here is the trim painted before moving in and this is the way it looked for a few months.  That's the panel for the generator to the left.  We thought we'd built it into a cabinet but it sticks too far off the wall and a cabinet would overlap the doorway.


After we finally got around to painting. We used Behr 'Garden Wall' to match the kitchen and called it finished for now. This view is looking inside from the back door, at the left side is a storage closet for cleaning supplies then a shelf with baskets above and a shoe rack below. The long term plan is to install a built-in bench here with shoe storage below. Next to that is a row of coat hooks. Not much work was done back here, a shelf was removed and some hooks were replaced.


You can see in the photo above how the doorway into the kitchen was at one point the exterior door of the house. The wall there is wood siding and the ceiling in that area is the same as in the sunroom.
